Cask Strength | 2nd Release | Bottle No. 4316 of 4854
Distilled in 1990 | Bottled in 2010
The Glenkinchie distillery was founded in 1837, and today is one of a handful of remaining Lowland producers.
The second cask-strength special release at this age is a fresh, clean, elegant whisky, matured throughout in refill American Oak. Expressing the elegant style of Glenkinchie to the full, it shows why today this is the only Lowland distillery in full time production.
At first clean and light, it is creamy, soft, and juicy on the nose, with sweet pear and melon fruit, spearmint and fresh herbs. the flavour is fruity and floral, grassy, minty, and gloriously smooth with water, and lightly sweet overall with a crisp, drying lemongrass finish.
This is surely a Glenkinchie to enjoy on a summer’s evening. A superior aperitif, well balanced and with a pleasing, subtle complexity, it is delightful at the natural cask-strength and better still with a little water – even, for one taster, straight from the freezer!
