The Francoli family has been officially distilling grappa for more than five generations, although the family tradition dates back even further. The family originally came from Campodolcino, a small Alpine village close to the Swiss border, but moved to Ghemme, in Piedmont, in 1922. In 1951, at the age of only 21, Luigi Francoli founded his own distillery, supported in his efforts by his four younger brothers, Franco, Augusto, Giuseppe and Giovanni. Over the years, Distillerie Francoli has built a solid reputation and is widely known for producing one of the smoothest grappas in all of Italy. This is a full-flavored yet delicate grappa with a distinctive taste of orange rind, dried apricots and eucalyptus and a crisp spiciness on the finish.
