Domaine Henri Maire has been nestled in the Jura, a wine region in eastern France between Burgundy in the east and Switzerland in the west, since 1632. Founded by a man named, Maire, for over 300 years, generations of Maires succeeded one another, strengthening the Maison’s expertise. For Domaine Henri Maire, the “Path to Gold” is an initiation to the richness and diversity of Jura wines. The Macvin du Jura wine is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Trousseau grape varietals.
A very special style of sweet; white version made of Savagnin and Chardonnay and fortified with ‘Marc’ (wine alcohol) made of the same grapes and domaine to limit fermentation, then 1 year oak, allowing it to ferment and develop a little further…. RS >153g, abv 16,5% Very special; in the nose hints of honey, orange zest, apple sauce and wet straw. Med/med+ acidity. Med+ sweet. Rather complex on the palate; impressions of apple sauce, almonds, honey and little fermenting.
